Part-Time Accountant - 17-20 hours per week, near Knutsford

We are looking for an experienced accountant with a current and strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software to join a successful, well-established, horticultural wholesale business based in the heart of Cheshire, close to Knutsford.

This is a permanent role, on a part time basis. The working hours are 17-20 hours per week, these can be worked over either two or three days. Due to the afternoons being the busiest time in the office it is essential for the accountant to be available up to 5.30pm on their agreed working days.

We are looking for someone with a 'hands-on’ attitude, to join the team in this stand-alone role where they will be responsible for all office based tasks including preparing the accounts, answering the telephone and dealing with all manner of customer queries, inputting data, banking and general office administration.

Reporting to and working closely with the business owner, this role will suit a self-motivated individual, able to work on their own initiative whilst keeping on top of and managing their workload. It is important that the successful applicant is exceptionally organized and a great communicator to enable them to provide timely accounting information whenever requested by the business owner.

It is essential that the successful applicant is an experienced/qualified accountant with excellent Sage accounting software knowledge and IT skills. We are looking for someone to really get stuck in and understand the business, the customer requirements and the annual work cycle of a horticultural wholesaler. Located on-site, it is perfectly acceptable to arrive for work wearing your wellies!

  • Issuing statements
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Preparing budgets
  • Purchase orders
  • Preparing picking lists
  • Customer services
  • Data input
  • Record keeping
  • Answering the telephones
  • General office administration

To succeed in this role, you will have proven accounts and Sage experience, you will be energetic and have a professional attitude, excellent communication skills and outstanding customer service skills

Along with an accounts qualification, it is essential for all applicants to have excellent communication skills and current working experience of Sage/MS Office.
