Salary: £35,000 per annum + Negotiable

Working in a small team you will be working for a family run business that has been established for nearly 30 years and grown significantly over that time and has several business streams including construction services, security, and facilities and cleaning.

With a broad range of clients based across the UK they have satellite site offices across the country with their head office based in Gravesend Kent. Their business is driven progressive and dynamic!

Duties of the Accountant:

  • Managing day to day accounts processing
  • Purchase ledger invoice processing and supplier payments
  • Sales invoicing
  • Sales ledger cash received processing
  • Credit control and debt management
  • Processing bank and cash transactions
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Month end stock accounting
  • Manage Invoice discount/factoring facility and reconcile monthly
  • Managing Import documentation and statutory accounts production for a broad spread of clients; advising clients on a whole range of issues
  • Reviewing the accounts of more junior staff members and making relevant recommendations
  • Playing a leading role on a number of the internal employee committees
  • Preparing Accruals and Prepayments
  • Preparing and key journals for review
  • Setting up and maintaining Fixed Asset records/registers
  • Assisting with the Variance Analysis commentary
  • Assisting with the investigation of cost centre Variances
  • Liaising and work with other departments as required
  • Preparing KPI Reporting
  • Undertaking any other ad hoc duties/projects as required
  • Complying with all relevant SOX controls

Requirements of the Accountant:

  • 3 years’ experience in an Accounting role or experience in a Credit Control / Purchase Ledger role willing to progress further
  • Prior experience of a multi company and multi-currency organisation
  • A good knowledge of excel
  • High level of numeracy
  • Good communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work within deadlines
  • Proactive, self-motivated and a positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels
  • A strong team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Knowledge of UKGAAP and /or IFRS
  • Should have a good focus on process, controls and governance
