In January 2018, we are establishing a world leading Logistics Centre of Excellence to steer our organisation through changing environmental demands. Our new Global Logistics Function manages the way our products move around the world and will become a key part of the performance of our end to end supply chain.

We have developed a single Global Logistics Function which will be a world leader in the way we ship our products. As part of this new strategy we will be investing in our capability as an organisation, significantly raising the bar and we will have an extensive training and development programme for all our logistics colleagues.

As a Launch & Network Strategy Director (Small Molecules) you will be responsible for successfully leading the global design and the execution of all Logistics aspects of New Product Introductions, Acquisitions & Divestments for a significant portfolio of demands. You will have a strong input into defining global logistics and distribution strategies for all supply chain changes, defining future network capabilities and requirements and leading the development and implementation of these requirements across the AstraZeneca Distribution & Logistics network.

Key accountabilities:

In the role, you will act as the Logistics Business Lead for all New Product Introduction (NPI) and Acquisition & Development activities taking responsibility for defining distribution strategies and for the design and implementation of new distribution solutions for new products as required. In order to successfully develop these strategies, you will work in close collaboration with the Logistics Supplier Directors, Head of Process Controlled Transportation, Global Supply Chain, Product Launch teams and the Commercial function. Acting as the single point of contact for Business Development Teams, Global Supply Teams and Global Operations Launch Teams.

Ensuring that Logistics has the capability and capacity to meet all NPI, Acquisition & Divestment requirements and to future proof the regional networks for expected changes in AstraZeneca’s product portfolio and business shape. Developing and implementing the logistics elements of new trade channels, aligned with the distribution and the commercial strategy.

You will, develop, publish and execute Global Distribution Strategies for pipeline products and define future logistics requirements and set the agenda for logistics analytics and network modelling and optimisation activity.

Acting as the process champion for NPI, Acquisitions & Divestment logistics related activities, ensuring that logistic activities are integrated into global supply chain business processes and that you liaise with regions / markets and sites to influence and monitor the integrations.

This role will require you to build strong relationships with high level internal stakeholders to exploit operational opportunities to support sales growth and enhance profit margins. You will represent the AstraZeneca logistics function externally acting as a SME at conferences, with authorities, suppliers and other manufacturers to bring intelligence into AstraZeneca and to enable us to partner as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Graduate status or equivalent experience
  • Deep experience in planning & logistics within a manufacturing, sales and marketing environment
  • Advanced commercial acumen and ability to influence and direct stakeholder decision making at senior levels
  • Proven ability to drive change within a diverse and matrix organisational environment
  • Advanced business management skill set including both financial planning and leadership
  • Good understanding of enterprise NPI processes and governance
  • Fluent English language
