Our client with a head office based in Bracknell are looking for a IT Systems & Support Manager to provide a superior level of technical support & oversee the management of the IT Support Desk to enhance the service provided to internal customers.

A key responsibility of the IT Systems Manager will be to work on & manage highly technical projects, inclusive of maintaining the security of the overall IT network. You will be highly skilled in supporting a Microsoft Windows environment & will perform a wide variety of installation, configuration and upgrading of workstations, servers and related hardware and software in a LAN, WAN and stand-alone environment. The successful candidate will investigate, diagnose, test and solve system, hardware, software and infrastructure issues and oversee the management of the team that provides these services to the wider business.

This is a hands-on role however a significant portion of this role will be the management and leadership of the IT Support team which consists of 5 team members.

Responsibilities

  • IT Support Team and Helpdesk Management
  • Performance reviews of team members and recruitment of additional team resources as required
  • IT Infrastructure project management and implementation
  • Complete configuration, installation and support of equipment in a Microsoft Windows Environment
  • Basic to Advanced understanding of supporting Linux operating systems
  • Coordinates and/or performs additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems and attached devices; includes investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation and testing of new network hardware, software and telephony
  • Supporting software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Maintain security, anti-virus, backup and redundancy strategies
  • Managing assigned projects to deliver services in accordance with established objectives
  • Responding to inquiries from staff, site personnel to provide technical assistance and support
  • Supervising the administration of systems, servers & network to ensure availability of services to authorised users
  • Out of hours work as necessary facilitated by overtime to ensure software and hardware systems are patched and/or upgraded
  • Providing technical consultation, training, support and mentoring to IT Support staff
  • Maintain network infrastructure standards
  • IT Support Team Management, inclusive of helpdesk management
  • Desktop, Server & Virtual Server Management (Local & Private Cloud)

Requirements

  • 5-7 Years experience in a commercial Information Technology environment
  • Relevant IT or Business related Degree
  • MSCE, CCNA qualification would be desirable
  • Experience in managing an IT Infrastructure, Support or Helpdesk team
  • Experience in working as part of a team and working towards tight deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload accordingly
  • Highly organised, thorough and diligent with an acute attention to detail
  • Excellent communications skills with IT Colleagues as well as internal and external customers
  • Maintaining composure during challenging technical problems
