Learning and Development Manager

A Learning and Development Manager is required to work in a permanent staff position for a large financial services company based in Manchester City Centre.

The salary for this position is between £40,000 and £45,000 depending upon previous experience. A Competitive benefits package is also included.

Overall purpose of the role

The job holder is responsible for interpreting the Talent and Development strategy and priority needs for the business working in collaboration with the relevant HR Business Partner, and agreeing a plan to deliver these priority needs with key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the business in 'identification of development needs' (IDN) against required skills and knowledge of specific teams / business areas
  • Provide support and challenge for line managers to foster a learning culture across the business and to support them with the development of their teams
  • Establish the most effective and cost efficient ways of developing the required development needs, seeking creative and engaging opportunities to encourage and embed the 70:20:10 approach to development

Essential Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Substantial experience working across all aspects of the development cycle; the identification of development needs, plus the design, delivery and evaluation of development using blended learning solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to engage effectively at senior leader level
  • Strong network / knowledge of external talent management and development suppliers and different forms of learning media to be able to source cost effective solutions, fit for business purpose
  • Strong commercial acumen to be able to develop a good business understanding, and link development to future business needs, in a cost effective way
  • Familiarity with the 70:20:10 approach to development to be able to champion the concept wherever appropriate
  • Strong facilitation / coaching skills

Required Qualifications

CIPD or equivalent learning level qualification

Desired Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Prior experience of a talent and development role in financial services
  • Prior responsibility for and / or delivery of accredited learning programmes e.g. Cert CII

Professional coaching qualification
