Duties of the post:

Structured testing and quality assurance of key software applications/products (web and/or mobile) to minimize the amount of post-release rectification work that is needed.


  • Supporting the Lead Tester / Developer(s) in timely testing of software solutions
  • Contributing to standardised coding/solution frameworks, aimed at reducing defects
  • Undertake well-planned, structured and repeatable testing of key software applications/products (web and mobile)
  • Creating suites of reusable test scripts, process automations, appropriate test data, utilities and suitable monitoring and reporting of defects to enable continuous, repeatable testing of the key software applications/products
  • Owning and managing software defect logs/tracking processes, irrespective of whether the defects are identified during testing or post-release, by internal or external clients, and ensuring that all such defects are resolved in a timely and effective manner
  • Producing high quality written reports/outputs, and communicating those effectively to others
  • Managing your time/commitments effectively, ensuring that testing activities are prioritised in line with software application/product development and deployment schedules
  • Creation of appropriate documentation/records of testing activities, such that others can understand and repeat/ extend/modify your testing scripts, automations, data and utilities effectively

Key skills required:

  • Extensive practical and operational experience of software testing using some or all of: Appium, Selenium, Jenkins, TestNG, Maven, or similar
  • Professional mentoring of testing or development colleagues, and/or team leadership
  • Extensive practical and operational experience of applying formal structured methods to software testing
  • A background in software development using any or all of the following development technologies/frameworks: HTML5, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, React Native, Angular.js, node.js, underscore.js, SQL Server 2014, Github
  • Progress tracking/reporting of testing activities


A graduate (Computer Science/Development related) with previous experience within the software testing sector

Salary: £45,000 pa
