Capita are looking for a Disaster Recovery Coordinator to be based in their Datacentre in West Malling!

About the role

The DR Co-ordinator will assist the DR Co-ordination Manager, using a variety of solutions, in planning and executing Disaster Recovery testing across our Datacentres and on behalf of our clients.

What you will do:

  • The effective co-ordination of the Disaster Recovery test process.

  • Ensuring that all clients are fully aware of their Disaster Recovery status.

  • Providing documentation, reports, identification of issues and information as required.

  • Liaison and co-ordination between relevant Datacentre teams, ITS Lines of Service, Service Delivery Managers, Client Directors and the client.

  • Engagement of 3rd party suppliers, where applicable.

Deliverables include, but not limited to:

  • The co-ordination and management of assigned DR tests - it is highly likely that some of these tests could be at unsociable hours or over entire weekends.

  • Ensure that clients and SDM's follow the DR Team Engagement process for the booking of tests, supply of test collateral, etc.

  • Ensuring that appropriately detailed change requests are raised and approved before each test is started.

  • Ensure that DR test planning meetings are held in a timely manner and include the relevant attendees and that they are accurately documented.

  • Provide support, assistance and guidance to anyone asking about DR related activities - this may include potential new clients.

  • Manage effective escalation of first line fault diagnosis to relevant teams and 3rd party suppliers.

  • Manage the effective escalation of test impacting issues to line management/senior management.

  • Create, amend and monitor DR documents on an ongoing basis and whether recently tested or not.

Your experience will include:

  • An understanding of DR policy and Strategy

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of current Disaster Recovery planning methodologies, techniques.

  • A high level understanding of physical and virtual infrastructures and SAN storage.

  • A familiarity with the methods used in performing risk analysis and business impact assessment.

  • Knowing when to escalate issues to line management to ensure that a test stays on target and is ultimately successful.

  • Good project management skills - ability to plan, organise and manage technical resources to deliver a successful test following business resumption procedures.

  • MS OFFICE is the primary tool, so a good working knowledge of WORD and EXCEL.
