About the role

Interserve Healthcare in Peterborough is currently looking for a Support Worker in the Cambridge area to support a lady with Global Development Delay and Learning Disability.

The client does have challenging behaviours, can be very unpredictable and gets very anxious if she is kept waiting for carers so good time management and a structured plan for the day is essential to enable the client to feel safe and secure. There is times were the client may get frustrated due to hunger, meeting new people, being around a lot of people or change in routine.

Our client has limited verbal communication so she will only use a few words to prompt however she does use pictures and Makaton to communicate with carers and to make choices. The client will use noises when she becomes upset or agitated. Carers must ensure that they use short and simple sentences as the client can understand these better.

As the client does require support out in the community daily, a full, clean driving licence is essential.

Shifts are detailed below:
Monday to Friday: 08:45 - 16:00
Saturday: 09:00 - 15:00

Following skills & experience required:

• 6 months previous care experience
• Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening
• Have a caring and compassionate attitude
• Can commit to regular hours
• Accessing the Community (Car driver essential)

Experience of the following is preferred but not essential:

• Learning Disabilities
• Challenging Behaviour
• De-Escalation Training
