PRINCIPLE PURPOSE OF JOB

  1. Performance of the company product and service ranges in sales, margin and distribution terms. Responsible for the range and sales proposition by sector.

  2. Create and agree the annual product business plan for the Company ranges aligned to Company Company strategic plan.

  3. With the European Marketing Manager support the development and successful execution of the marketing plan and budgets in all markets for Company branded products and services alongside the integrity of the Company brand

  4. Monitor and communicate the key customer and competitor activity impacting the performance of Company branded products and services.

  1. KEY TASKS

    1. Create, develop and agree the product business plan to deliver the sales and margin performance as required in the Company Strategy.

    2. Develop and maintain clear value propositions by sector for the Company range and services

    3. Measure, report and recommend range developments (npd, range rationalisation and product enhancements/value engineering) to ensure the Company range of products and services continues to be aligned to the strategic aims of the company.

    4. Excellent communication with all departments to support the needs of the Company value proposition. Working with

      1. the production and commercial team to ensure product cost is optimised,

      2. Demand planning to understand volume performance and ensure availability and optimal stock,

      3. Procurement, Operations and our sales engineers to ensure new materials and new production technologies are included in range development work.

      4. Sales to ensure customer developments and competitor information is incorporated in long term and tactical product activity - including pricing.

      5. Marketing to utilise market insights and feedback whilst supporting with product ranging, messages and benefits are incorporated into the promotional work by sector and geography.

    5. Monitor and report on the availability and distribution performance against plan of Company Range and Services to the Leadership team.

    6. Report on customer and competitor activity to ensure Company products maintain effective value propositions consistent with Strategy.

    7. Supporting the wider Company team with customers on product and category developments and information

  2. AUTHORITY

  1. Contributing to, and developing, marketing and product plans and strategies with the Commercial Director and team;

  2. Managing the product marketing mix to achieve the budgets set out in the product business plans

  3. Devising and presenting ideas and strategies for the development of your business

  4. MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE IN THE JOB

  1. Monthly review of distribution, orders, actual and forecast sales/margin and profitability by product, category, range, sector and geography.

  2. Monitor progress of all significant trade promotional and development activity by range using appropriate metrics and submit reports colleagues and Commercial Director

  3. Monitor performance of competitors and benchmark Company performance against those.

  4. Qualitative and quantitative feedback from internal and external customers

  5. Supportiveness for compliance to the Company’s accredited standards and processes.

Skills

Product Management - to a high level relevant to sector/market - probably FMCG background, including opportunity identification. Ideally CIM certification or higher

Category Management - high level

Commercial Decision making - ideally to PBIT

Organisation, Planning and Execution

Influencing - at all levels from C level to factory floor

Teamwork

IT - competent using MS Office/ Company applications - Excel intermediate or better

Technical - food related experience preferred.
