Working with the head teacher to ensure the site and facilities are maintained, secure, safe and clean; and that the school is complying with all legislative requirements relevant to the site and facilities (buildings, grounds, landscape and facilities).

Your role will include:

- To promote the aims and objectives of the school and to present a positive image of the school to the public

- To carry out any other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the post

- To attend training and supervision/appraisal sessions as required

- To keep Business Manager and other relevant Senior staff fully informed of all matters that they are involved in and initiatives they undertake

- To cover for absent colleagues, as appropriately required.

- So far as reasonably practicable, ensure that safe working practices are adopted by employees, in areas for which the postholder is responsible, to maintain a safe working environment for employees and service users. There are defined in the Corporate Health, Safety and Welfare policy, departmental policies and codes of practice.

- Work in compliance with the Codes of Conduct, Regulations and policies of the City Council and the school, and its commitment to equal opportunities.

- Ensure that output and quality of work is of a high standard and complies with current legislation/standards.

- To undertake any other duties, commensurate with the grade, as reasonably requested by the Head Teacher.


No direct qualifications are essential but a background in trades such as electronics, plumbing, carpentry etc. with relevant City & Guilds/NVQ would be beneficial
All candidates must be able to pass a DBS check (formally CRB accurate background check)
A good understanding and/or training in COSHH & HACCP
Must be able to use computers to a good standard including Microsoft packages and be able to pick up the site specific software.

The ideal candidate will have:

- strong administrative and analytical skills
- a good knowledge of health and safety
- experience working in facilities management, dealing with hard and soft service staff
