Reed Accountancy are looking to appoint a Service Charge Analyst on behalf of a leading organisation in commercial services. This is a permanent opportunity based in North Bristol and is offering a salary up to £25,000.

Working hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 5:30pm, Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm including an hour lunch.

This role will have three main areas - service charge administration (acting on behalf of clients as tenant), service charge recovery (clients as landlord) and assurance reviews (assisting with the forensic review of service charges and accounts).

You will also provide support to consultants and other colleagues as required and ad hoc involvement with Assurance Reviews being a forensic audit of service charge accounts.

Key Tasks are as follows:

Service Charge Administration

- Check invoices, certificates and budgets for errors, analyse against previous payments.
- Read and analyse leases to check compliance and determine liability for costs.
- Identify potential issues and/or potential savings opportunities.
- Undertake negotiations with landlords and agents to ensure value for money services and to achieve cost reductions where appropriate.
- Client liaison to include meetings, conference calls and assisting with queries as required
- Assist with production of monthly and quarterly reports

Service Charge Recovery

- Prepare service charge certificates and budgets
- Calculate other charges due from tenants (for example, demised electricity)
- Respond to tenant queries
- Assist with accounting function (invoicing, receipts, credit control, banking)
- Assist with production of monthly and quarterly reports
- Client liaison to include meetings, conference calls and assisting with queries as required
- Advise clients on recoverability of costs and maximising recovery

Assurance Review

- Assist in the initial spreadsheet analysis and review of individual building transaction lists using pivot tables
- Compilation of cost accrual and cost transfer schedules
- Identify high and potentially irrecoverable costs that warrant further investigation
- Assist in the investigation of these costs, identifying lease/service contract areas for review and individual invoices and supporting documents required in support of these expenditures
- Assist with production of client reports (Word and PowerPoint)

Ideally you will have previous experience working with commercial service charges, however training will be provided during your induction period.

Other attributes/key skills include:

- Familiarity with Lease Agreements and other legal documentation is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, logical and methodical approach to problem solving and analysis.
- Confident, analytical, articulate and self-motivated.
- Intermediate Mircosoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint skills are required.
- You may be required to travel and attend buildings throughout the UK with clients/third parties, so a flexible attitude is essential.
