Staples UK Ltd currently have an exciting opportunity for an Internal Account Manager within Sales & Customer Service team in our Birmingham Head Office. Job Purpose

To develop existing awareness of Company products and services within the mid market sales sector through pro active outbound sales and inbound requests

To identify, target and win new business within the mid market sales sector through pro active outbound sales calls

Critical Results

  • All orders received are processed for next day
  • All daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s are met or exceeded
  • All allocated outgoing calls are completed each day
  • Required administration work, e.g. customer record cards and activity reports are up to date and handed in on time when requested
  • Activities are documented in and are accurate and complete
  • All customer enquiries are returned within designated timescales


  • Selling a wide portfolio of products
  • Proactive identification, targeting and acquiring of new business
  • Proactive development of existing customers; delivering and maximising sales opportunities by offering customers increased pack quantities and linked products and actively promoting company special offers
  • Processing of orders in line with Customer service processes
  • Handle outgoing and incoming calls to profitably sell office supplies to businesses within the mid market sector
  • Responding to inbound requests from existing and/or prospective customers to set up meetings and present Company and product information
  • Provide telephone support to nominated area, supporting fellow associates and contributing to team sales and margin objectives
  • To manage internal customer databases and ensure all records are current and updated.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a structured telesales and/or customer service environment
  • High activity KPI background
  • Experience of selling a portfolio of products
  • Successfully delivering targets consistently in a very competitive market place
  • Operating in a highly competitive, dynamic and ambiguous environment
  • A track record of continuous overachievement


  • Influencing buying in target customers
  • Ability to identify and work with relevant business resources
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise according to impact
  • Excellent negotiating skills with a strong commercial and financial awareness
