The Company:
Dating back to the 1800s, this hotel is the largest hotel in North Devon. Overlooking the Estuary, they have a number of restaurants and a full entertainment programme, including live music most nights. Thanks to the positive experience their guests receive, they are proud to be busy all year round.

The Role:
They are seeking a professional and customer focused Operations Manager to oversee the efficient running of the Hotel, keeping a keen eye on wage costs. Whilst supervising the food and beverage and bar staff to deliver an exceptional service to their customers and guests. The position will involve ensuring that hotel protocol is adopted and followed by all members of staff.

You will be responsible for function and event management to provide a high level of service, this will involve keeping records of regular functions to ensure that a seamless service is provided. You will also play a key role in ensuring building and maintaining relationships with repeat group and function organisers.

Your people management skills will mean you have the ability to liaise with all department managers to ensure goals are achieved and overall maintenance standards of the hotel are improved.

The Person:
With experience in a similar role, you'll have a customer focused approach to your work with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals at all levels. You recognise the importance of upholding professional standards and have a good understanding of HR practices as well as health and safety legislation.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, you'll also be a people person with the ability to effectively supervise and train a team whilst encouraging collaboration and giving clear and accurate instructions to staff.

The following skills and experience are essential:
- Experience of management within the hospitality sector
- Knowledge of the commercial challenges and opportunities within the hotel or restaurant sector
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Proven understanding of food hygiene and health and safety legislation and regulations as they apply within the catering and hospitality sectors
- Experience of managing and motivating staff
