Health & Safety Manager - Interior Fit-out
Salary: £40,000 - £48,000 Per Annum
I'm recruiting a Health & Safety Manager for a specialist Design & Build Contractor in Manchester. This organisation is Design and Quality led, with a real commitment to doing things the best way. It has an enviable client list made up up of the very best blue-chip organisations and the best reputation in the market it operates it. It's offices are in the best part of town, incredibly well fitted-out and with free and easy parking on the doorstep for all staff.
The appointed individual will take the role as Health & Safety Manager and be responsible for Health & Safety across the group. The duties will be wide ranging and extensive, but will include:
* Carrying out subcontractor and sub-designer pre-qualifications
* Developing and reviewing company policies, procedures and risk assessments
* Attending sites and carrying out regular Health & Safety audits
* Developing construction phase plans and method statements
* Coaching the design team to ensure ongoing compliance with CDM regulations
* Liaison with HSE if required.
The right individual will have a background in Construction Health & Safety including Fit-out and be a Chartered member of IOSH or Grad IOSH actively working to obtaining Chartered status. The person should have detailed understanding of current CDM regulations and experience of advising of safe access, asbestos management and the use of mobile cranes. It would be ideal if the individual had an interest in behavioural safety and in providing advice and support to the design team for design risk avoidance. The appointee must have the ability to influence and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and must be able to produce clear, high quality reports. Finally, while the preferred approach is for influencing through relationship building and good communication, the appointee must be able to show knowledge, resilience and confidence in confrontational situations.
The individual must be able to cope with peaks and troughs in workload and must be happy with regular travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays.
