Head of Technology Procurement - Manchester

Out client, a leading consumer brand, is seeking a senior IT Procurement Leader to be based in easy commuting distance of Manchester. Reporting into the Group CPO, this is key role setting the strategic direction and implementing effective change within a growing Technology Procurement function with a spend of c£500m per annum, through leading, developing and motivating the team to deliver best in class strategic sourcing and purchasing across a diverse spend portfolio.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

Stakeholder Management:

  • Engage key stakeholders to support and agree group category strategies
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all stakeholder requirements (technical, commercial & operational)
  • Develop a clear understanding of the demand into Procurement over the fiscal year and beyond
  • Respond to stakeholder needs such as establishing commercial requirements, deliverables and priorities
  • Build supplier and stakeholder relationships in order to maximize supplier performance
  • Manage third parties and maintain a 360 view of supply to achieve the best value for money

Financial Management

  • Work closely with Group Procurement Director to deliver an integrated value adding Procurement function
  • Liaise with Procurement functions across the group for synergies of spend and achieve best practices
  • Deliver annualized savings targets as agreed with the Group Procurement Director
  • Lead in the key supplier negotiations and renegotiations to deliver best value solutions
  • Measure and report on the value delivered and ensure value is at all times in line with or better than industry
  • Manage supply chain risks with appropriate contracting methodology and comprehensive terms and conditions

People Management and Leadership:

  • Management responsibility of the Procurement team
  • Provide leadership direction, coaching and development to ensure the team is motivated and giving their best
  • Support and contribute to team building and team dynamics and leading by example
  • Being positive and professional all times, enhancing the credibility of the business at every given opportunity
  • Able to effectively lead and influence at all levels
  • Manage team performance, undertaking regular individual reviews to reflect achievements against targets
  • Work with the Procurement Director on strategy and plans the drive the team and continuous improvement
  • Collaborative working with key stakeholders and leaders
  • Work with the Procurement Director and Strategic Partner Manager to deliver a successful events roadmap
  • Experience of resolving disputes and English contract law concepts and contract term constructs;
  • CIPS or equivalent qualification/experience.


  • Line management authorities for Category Managers
  • Supporting the delivery of annualised savings targets across the category
  • Leading and supporting the team on key supplier negotiations
  • Management and Leadership of the Procurement team including working with operational and technical teams as needed
