An incredible opportunity has arisen for a Head of Technology / Development to join one of the UK’s most respected digital agencies with a highly enviable client base from their offices in Bristol.  Leading the largest team in the agency, this is a chance to take ownership of the performance of all technology activity, improving efficiency and championing high quality and innovative solutions for a dynamic and already dominant market-leader.

What experience you'll need

They will look for you to have at least 5 years experience of development team management in a digital agency or other fast-paced, multiple project environment.  As Head of Technology they would expect you to have a wide technical background within a Microsoft .Net technology stack and ideally CMS (Kentico, Sitecore etc) as well as experience of implementing and improving delivery methodologies for both Waterfall and Agile.  You’ll be expected to define and deliver complex, critical enterprise-level web-based solutions from end-to-end within time and budget, displaying outstanding client and internal communication and presentation skills.  Within the role you will have 4 direct senior reports, your leadership will be key across this team but also in a wider sense across the business and externally.

What you'll be doing

In addition to the team and project leadership mentioned above, the business will look to you to evangelise and excite about the potential of new, brilliant technology solutions; pushing the boundaries of what is possible.  As part of the Management Team you will represent the business on tenders, pitches, at conferences and events with an interest in writing technology blogs/white papers.  They will call upon you to manage relationships with key technology partners and research/evaluate new potential partnerships.  Whilst showing the gravitas and strategic competencies required at this level, it is also important that internally you are able to uphold, review and improve the quality of solutions, embedding a culture of responsibility and efficiency.  Further duties will cover team development, recruitment, reviews and identifying training opportunities as well as improving
profitability, balancing quality with efficiency and giving more accurate estimations of work.

What you'll get in return for your talents

You can expect a very competitive salary (£70-85K), bonus, generous pension, holidays and much more.  This is a rare opportunity to shape the technical direction and strategy for one of the UK’s best digital businesses; there will be challenges aplenty within a supportive, friendly and hard-working environment.  Professional development opportunities and access to conferences (domestic and international) are encouraged and frequent; you will be able to further develop and enhance your strategic and leadership abilities.  All within a business that really values it’s staff and fosters a positive environment of innovation, engagement free from ego and full of ambition.
