Director of Quality and Standards (FE and HE)

Salary: £75k (includes market premium of £5k) + Benefits

This is a pivotal post in Blackburn College; and one which will play a major role in supporting the College in its aspiration to deliver a world class education to its local and wider communities. The range of the post reflects the full spectrum of courses offered by the College, distinctive because of its co-existence of further and higher education and the scale of its respective provision. At the same time, the College intends to sustain its profile of excellence across FE and HE and is anticipating its approaches to new qualifications, re-formulated patterns of work-based learning and the Teaching Excellence Framework.The College achieves very significant outcomes for students and responds to every opportunity to meet the needs of employers, be their provider of choice and become an indispensable partner to businesses. The Role

The Director will have a range of responsibilities to ensure that Quality is represented and fundamental across College functions and structures affecting Learning, Teaching and Assessment, and including:

- leading the development, implementation and review of the College's strategies around Quality Assurance and Enhancement;

- developing and maintaining partnerships with academic institutions, including validation partners, and maintaining appropriate relationships with awarding bodies;

- ensuring the production to the highest standards of the annual institutional reports on HE and annual Self-Assessment report / Quality Improvement Plan on FE;

The Person

Blackburn College intends to appoint as Director a person of outstanding quality and whose leadership of Quality and Standards contributes to the development and growth of the institution. A perspective on the roles of Quality Assurance and Quality Enhancement will be complemented by thorough understanding of the mechanics and metrics of quality processes, demonstrating that the College is delivering to the highest standards and providing the information enabling further development and improvement.
