RedCat Digital are working with one of the largest telecoms providers in the world and a FTSE 100 company to find a Principal Data Scientist to join the team in London.

The Company

My client is a recognised giant in the telecommunications world, employing over 100,000 people with a turnover of over £17 billion. This role will sit in their Big Data Team which is currently enjoying a period of fantastic growth which is shaping the future of the business as a whole. The team is focussed on the external monetisation of network data through a number of channels and partnerships. Big data has been a hot topic over the last few years with revolutionary technologies predicted to change the world. My client’s aim is simple, to develop global leading analytics enabling better decisions from big data.

The Principal Data Scientist Role

The primary purpose of the role is to develop and deliver market leading analytical solutions and products for external clients and to drive new revenue streams for the business as a whole. You will build and deliver analytical solutions by analysing large and complex datasets using multiple technologies such as; R, SAS, SQL, Hadoop etc. and will be able to develop new analytical algorithms and products using various statistical methods.

You will act as the senior technical lead for Big Data and will be able to clearly and confidently present complex analytical results in a simple manner to key stakeholders. Monetising telco data is a fairly new concept that has begun to emerge as a small trend globally over the past few years. The challenge of this role is to maintain my clients’ leading position in this field, developing new approaches and insight while also delivering a new revenue stream.

About You…

The right person for this role will have enhanced skills in statistics, machine learning, data modelling and algorithm development. You will be an experienced Data Scientist with at least 3 years’ work in this role processing and querying large volumes of data using SQL or similar languages. You will have a strong skill-set with statistical analysis languages such as R & Python as well as strong knowledge of data visualisation fundamentals.

Additionally you will be an excellent problem solver with a passion for Big Data. You will have the ability to work in a collaborative team and will be driven to take on new challenged and deliver ground breaking tools for other business leaders.
