Salary of £35,000-45,000 basic salary, dependent on experience, with a realistic OTE of £55,000-70,0000.

Jobfinders are actively recruiting a Publishing and Events Sales Manager to sell across all media platforms within the UK and Internationally to niche industries.

As the Sales Manager, you will take the lead sales position across its print and digital products within a niche industry. You will also be expected to sell sponsorship and exhibition space on existing conferences, as well as develop new events based on your clients` needs. This position reports directly to the publisher.

You will inherit a number of key clients and you will also be expected to develop new accounts as part of your role. High targets, but rewarding benefits.

Along with closing deals, you will be expected to manage the needs of each client, expand the relationship, develop new revenue opportunities and make sure that we deliver on all that is expected of us.

The group you will be selling across currently includes a printed magazine, daily online news and email alerts, a series of conference newsletters and the annual conference. Our clients` goal is to develop a series of sponsored seminars and events, and you will be involved with this.

This position requires the ability to manage sales across multiple clients and projects simultaneously.

Approximately 80% of your sales will be conducted over the telephone, with the remainder being done face-to-face in the clients` offices and at conferences. To begin with, you will need to make a significant number of telephone sales calls. As you gain knowledge and prove your abilities, you will be sent on sales trips. You will be expected to start going on sales trips and representing our company at conferences within 3-6 months.

You will have a proven track record of strong personal sales as well as project management. You will need to feel comfortable pitching senior executives, including up to CEO level, both on the phone and in person, providing bespoke written presentations for each client, and have an exceptional and demonstrable track record of growing and developing revenue on the brands you have worked on.

The role would suit an experienced Sales Manager/Account Manager looking for a fresh challenge!

The successful applicant will:

  • Manage a demanding and diverse workload in a high-pressure environment;
  • Will have personally produced sales in excess of £400,000 per year, comprised of both existing accounts and new business;
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational abilities, including experience of developing new business from major key accounts;
  • Feel confident with a technical subject matter;
  • Have exceptional verbal and written presentation skills;
  • Be equally competent in phone-based and face-to-face sales;
  • Be motivated to develop new ideas for publications and events, and be willing to take ownership of them from concept to completion;
  • Feel comfortable making and communicating plans to internal and external stakeholders.

Career progression

There is no doubt that this role will expand as more opportunities are taken advantage of, new products launched, new team members recruited and turnover increased. Initially this will be a solid sales role, but it should be considered as a Management position in the short term (12-18 months) for the successful candidate.
