We are looking for a new experienced web developer/programmer to join the BigChoice Group. What will you be responsible for?

  • Developing our portfolio of web sites and systems
  • Maintaining our current projects to a high standard
  • Adapting legacy systems to new technology
  • New Project Developments, both internal facing and client facing.
  • Maintaining office equipment and software
  • Training staff on the use of IT Systems
  • Ensuring the security of systems that we are responsible for

What you have

You will need to highly proficient in

  • PHP
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Code Security and Data Protection
  • Standard Office Software

The following skills would be of benefit, Linux, Apache, SSH, MS Exchange, Active Directory, BIND, Networking, Responsive Websites and knowledge of Fireworks or similar Graphics Packages.

The following skills are desired, but not essential skills. Bind, Server security, Apache modules, PHP modules, SMTP, HTML Header commands.

Formal qualifications are not necessary however if you have a degree then a computer science subject is preferred.

You must have demonstrable experience for this role and will be expected to have knowledge of advanced concepts and language functions. You should be able to logically follow through a project from its conception to its realisation.

You need to be fresh thinking, innovative and quick thinking.

For the right candidate there is the potential for rapid promotion within the IT department with increased responsibilities and rewards.

Who you will be working with

The IT Director, Designers and Content team to help build on increasing our visitors and building a better user experience. Additional responsibilities will extend to providing support throughout the organisation, so you will be exposed to all sides of the BigChoice business.

Our Office

You will be joining our team in our London offices based at Oval. Just a short walk from Oval Tube station, our office hours are 8:45am until 5:30pm. You will be supplied with a laptop for your work and subject to passing probation will be entitled to a generous holiday allowance. Unfortunately, due to the close working with all parts of the business there is no opportunity to work remotely in this role. You will need to have the right to live and work within the UK and will be expected to attend an interview as part of the recruitment process.
