Technical Support Engineer (Win Servers) - North London

Their client portfolio is growing fast so they are expanding our UK support team to work from our offices in Harrow in North West London.

The Role:
Due to industry growth we now have a requirement for a Technical Support Engineer.
Professional appearance, excellent communicators and great team players only need apply. No clock watchers please! ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Internal Responsibilities
· Monitoring, maintaining and updating SBS (Small Business Server)
· Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange management
· Desktop PC upgrades and deployments, including Windows XP and Windows 7
· Server upgrades and deployments, including Server 2003 and 2008
· Server and workstation hardware, diagnostics and repair
· Security issues, including boundary protection and AV alerts
· Installing and managing Software upgrades
· Backup infrastructure and disaster recovery plans
· Keeping related documentation up to date and producing monthly management reports
· Manage internal telephone system (using console)
· Writing SQL queries to run bespoke client reports

External Responsibilities:
· Managing Colocation servers including installation and maintaining ongoing relationship with CoLo data centre
· Using VMWare for server creation (virtualisation)
· Managing Cisco firewalls
· IP management for client account sub domain set up (including DNS)
· Managing SQL database (must have good knowledge of SQL script writing)
· API knowledge (Web services - SOAP. Understanding of C++, PHP and Java)
· Managing deliverability (power MTA, Authentication, IP address monitoring, IP ranges. Dedicated IP addresses, feedback loops, inbox deliverability, monitoring tool. Blacklisting and Spam filters)
· Keeping documentation up to date
· Managing additional adhoc technical queries from user support teams
· Trouble shooting (Server / Network)

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
· Experience / knowledge of Windows 7 desktop and Windows Server 2003/2008, Linux infrastructure, networking and major desktop applications (MS Office), Symantic back up / SMTP
· SQL script writing knowledge
· Creating and managing API programming knowledge so knowledge of C++, PHP, Java required
· Cisco (CCNA) and MSCertificate (MCP) Certificate not essential but knowledge definitely required
· VMWare understanding as creating and managing virtual servers
· Must be aware of Linux basic commands and LAMP Server
· Experience on SSL would be a definite advantage
· Email marketing knowledge highly desirable
· Experience in email marketing technology communication so therefore knowledge of DNS
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Able to work occasionally evenings and weekends for planned maintenance work

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 3 years commercial experience in tech support in a windows environment.

Skill sets required are as follows:
• Knowledge of VMware Virtualization
• Should have at the very least a basic knowledge of SQL server including SQL queries, Stored Procedures, SQL Jobs.
• Should have knowledge of installations, configuration and monitoring windows servers (2003, 2008, and 2012).
• Should have knowledge of DNS including DNS records, DNS Authentications and DNS Delegation.
• Should have basic knowledge of SBS servers which includes active directory, MS exchange, group policies.
• Should understand the basics of SMTP, FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP.
• Should understand the basics of IIS, SSL
• Must have basic understanding of API’s.
