Commutable from: Guilford, Farnham, Basingstoke, Petersfield, Winchester, Farnborough, Aldershot, Reading, Newbury, Havant, Portsmouth, Chichester, Southampton, Woking
Salary: £ 45,000 - £ 50,000 p.a.
Suitable for: Materials Manager, Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager, Purchasing Manager, Supplier Development Manager, Inventory Manager, MP&L Manager
Reporting into the Operations Manager your duties will be across three main areas, Local Inventory Management, Purchasing and Consignment Inventory Management. Through managing a team of 3 within the department you will hold responsibility for a multi-million pound annual spend, working closely with suppliers to make necessary adjustments and improvements.
Local Inventory Management:
Manage the inventory levels & the shelf life, implement the cycle counting process, manage the inventory shortages and implement a continuous improvement program.
Ensure all purchase orders are raised correctly, challenging any shipment delay and price increases. You will implement supplier performance measurements, holding regular meetings with key suppliers and implement corrective action plans for delinquent suppliers.
Consignment Inventory Management:
Work with customers to identify all materials to be used and evaluate the inventory levels needed against the customer's history. Implement processes using the inventory management systems, manage inventory levels at the customer site before it becomes an exposure risk, work with the customer to identify KPI objectives, chairing meetings with the customer and implement continuous improvement objectives.
Holding previous experience in supply chain within a small to medium size company you will have a good understanding of lean best practices, preferably six sigma trained/qualified (although not essential). Experience of managing a small team within customer service and purchasing would be ideal, and it is essential you have a background in distribution supply chain and those who have worked within Aerospace / Chemicals would be at a distinct advantage. Candidates that have implemented process improvements within inventory management would be preferable, coupled with very much a 'people person' mind-set and culture to develop relationships both internally and externally.
