£25,000 - £30,000 + BENEFITS

I am seeking an experienced Buyer for a leading manufacturing business based in Surrey. Due to continued growth, the business is expanding their supply chain team and is in need of a buyer. The business has state of the art facilities and can offer genuine opportunities for progression and development.

THE ROLE

As a Buyer you will be reporting into the Purchasing Manager and will be challenged with cost reduction, overseeing the third party contractors and implementing long term agreements. You will need to be able to operate individually as well as being part of a team and take ownership of your buying function.

Your role will involve understanding of supplier performance in respect to new product introductions, quality, cost, risk and management. You will be using initiative and industry knowledge to build on relationships. In this role, you will be looking to develop and drive continuous improvement in the purchasing activity. Key responsibilities will likely include;

  • Ensuring that materials are purchased at the most competitive prices and to the required specifications

  • Driving forward quality improvements and compliance

  • Working closely with developers, engineers and the project team for supplier exit strategies

  • Negotiating with global suppliers

  • Identifying risk within the business and demonstrating commercial awareness

THE PERSON

Based in the Surrey area, the ideal Buyer will need to have strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Key requirements for the role will include;

  • 3 years + experience of purchasing in a manufacturing environment

  • An understanding of quality managament and financil analysis

  • Strong internal and external Stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong ERP/MRP and IT skills (excel)

  • An understanding of lean techniques
