Would you like to be part of a national charity that ensures children and young people with all kinds of special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) get the right education? Then join us as our Finance Officer.

IPSEA gives free and independent legally based information, advice and support - we’re small, but influential, with a large reputation, and are poised on the brink of becoming much bigger. The Board of Trustees has committed to increasing, by 50%, the number of people helped by IPSEA over the next three years.

IPSEA provides a unique range of specialist services. These services include two helplines lines run by volunteers and an email information service. IPSEA has also developed a wide range of high quality specialist training packages and products for which we are renowned. We create bespoke training packages as well as selling e-learning training modules to individuals and both voluntary and statutory organisations.

IPSEA is at the forefront on policy issues relating to special education and is involved in responding and advising policy makers at all levels of government. Our practical every day experience of advising and supporting parents allows us to speak from a position of expertise and experience and to provide crucial evidence of needs and challenges. IPSEA has committed to ensuring that no legislation, policy or guidance on SEND will come from government without our expert input.

We are looking to appoint a Finance Officer, preferably with experience of working within a charity, to join our office based in Saffron Walden, Essex.

Reporting to the Chief Executive you will maintain financial ledgers, controls and processes. You will lead on the work for the annual budget for all areas of IPSEA’s work, providing support to budget holders within the organisation. In addition your responsibilities will include the preparation of regular monthly reports to the Trustees, Chief Executive and budget holders within the organisation providing financial insight and planning support. You will have responsibility for external financial reporting requirements and work on the audit and preparation of statutory accounts. We will look to you to improve our finance accounting systems by identifying opportunities to improve procedures.
