Are you an experienced Plant Manager looking for a role where you have true autonomy over the UK Operation for our client?
Are you both commercially and technically savvy and have previous experience within the Chemical Industry?
The client is one of the largest suppliers of refrigerants in Europe and has over 30 years in the industry, supplying into various sectors including; Automotive, Industrial and Service to name a few.

The Plant Manager will be directly responsible for the supervision of all aspects of the UK plant operations. This will include; production, quality control, maintenance, goods receiving and shipping, recruitment, training and the management of the facilities and associated plant and equipment. The successful candidate will be expected to continuously develop the operation to meet changing demand and manage any authorised capital improvements.
In addition you will have full responsibility for annual budget planning and its execution, also working closely with the health and safety department, sales and other internal functions of the business in order to improve safety, productivity and profitability within the operation.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding and experience of the regulations surrounding COMAH, COSHH, DSEAR ADR and Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and have a number of years’ experience including best practices in both managerial and production environments.

The primary duties and responsibilities are:
  • Provide leadership for the successful day to day operation of the facility
  • To manage, develop and maintain plant in accordance with COSHH, DSEAR ADR and Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and any other regulations.
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of personnel
  • Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality
  • Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets
  • Analyse workforce requirements
  • Encourage and promote operating in a Continuous Improvement environment while adhering to established quality system policies and programs
  • Work with vendors to develop and improve supplier relationships
  • Create purchase orders to place orders for required items related to plant operations
  • Maintain ICT systems including building and site security and protection systems
The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and characteristics;
  • Experience in key leadership/management roles within manufacturing industries preferably within chemical manufacturing or storage
  • Previous experience of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyse data and trends
  • Previous experience of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies
  • Previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing etc to drive improvement
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven
