Registered Care Home Manager - Islington - £34,639pa - Permanent

Location: Islington, London

Salary: £34,639 per annum, rising incrementally

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM (37.5hrs per week, including 30 mins unpaid break per day)

Duration: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

This role is based in a Mental Health Care home in Islington. The post holder will manage the delivery of the service, taking a lead role in managing the day to day practice of the staff team and ensuring the service is pro-actively marketed to prospective purchasers across London.

The service is an 18 bed Registered Care Home providing 24 hour accommodation, care and support to men with severe and enduring mental health problems including those with forensic histories. The project has a number of beds provided for services users with forensic histories, and a three bed step down service for service users from long-term institutional settings to help them back into mainstream community, and to develop independent living skills.

Main Duties:

You will have day to day responsibility for the running of the care home including:

  • To take responsibility for all aspects including; marketing, budgeting, recruitment, employee relations including absences and conduct, and, most importantly ensure that the standards of care delivered are of the highest quality.
  • Managing an existing staff team and communicate effectively at all levels both with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To take a lead role in the marketing of the project, to achieve sufficient referrals to maintain high occupancy.
  • To seek to develop relationships with key partner agencies that will ensure that all service users have access to appropriate levels of support and that crisis intervention is available in a timely and effective manner, when needed.
  • To achieve registered manager status and be responsible for the service under the regulation of the Care Quality Commission, ensuring services are provided to the standards laid down by relevant legislation.
  • To be responsible, in conjunction with the Operations Manager and HR Manager, for recruiting, inducting, leading and motivating the staff team.
  • To be responsible for the project’s financial stability, including maximising income by keeping voids to the minimum and controlling expenditure within agreed budget levels for the project.
