Our 40-strong London team is led by our Chief Operating Officer and is structured into two broad areas:

1) Reporting and Accounting

This function looks after all of the Firm's reporting needs, both internal and external. This includes strategic planning and budgeting, management accounts, statutory accounts and tax work.

2) Finance Operations

This team is responsible for the day-to-day operations, including billing, collections, cash management & treasury, and client monies.

The Role

The Financial Accountant will be working within the Business Reporting and Analysis Team with responsibility for the compliance reporting for the London office. The candidate should have very strong organisational skills and a professional attitude towards work. The ideal candidate must be able to develop strong relationships within the department and with internal clients, be responsive and have strong communication skills both written and oral. Duties include:

• Preparation of the annual LLP financial statements

• Preparation of the annual financial statements for two service companies

• Liasing with the auditors regarding the LLP and Service Company audits

• Liasing with Internal Auditors

• Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

• Preparation, and processing, of journals

• Preparation of Financial Support Schedules for Global Finance

• Preparation of quarterly VAT returns for three VAT registrations

• Preparation of quarterly EC Sales Lists

• Preparation of the Partnership Tax returns

• Preparation of Corporation Tax returns for the service companies

• Preparation of PAYE Settlement Agreements for the service companies

• Assisting the Payroll Manager with the production of P11Ds

• Working with the Payroll Manager regarding expatriate tax and NI

• Assisting with the preparation of Intercompany invoices and payments

• Reconciliation of Intercompany accounts

• Assistance with the preparation of all financial information for the Firm

• Liaising with Global Finance and overseas offices regarding queries on financial information

• Assisting non-financial team leaders in understanding and using financial information

• Build close relationships with counterparts in other practice support departments to provide a co-ordinated service to fee earning teams

Key Skills and Experience Required


• ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified

Skills and Knowledge

• Financial accounting experience essential, preferably within professional services

• PC literate, including excellent working knowledge of Excel, macro skills preferable, but not essential

• Experience of data mining information in order to answer queries from various reports

• Knowledge of supplementary systems such as SAP, DTE Equitrac and Access is desirable

• Self managed and organised

• Ability to meet deadlines and use initiative

• Excellent attention to detail and highly numerate

• Client service orientated

• Confident, effective communicator at all levels both written and verbal

• Ability to engage with all levels within an organisation, from senior Partners to more junior team members

• Strong team player - ability to work with a team of Finance professionals to deliver value-added activity

• Flexible in attitude and approach to work

• Keeps manager/supervisor informed of work status and seeks clarification where appropriate; provides upward feedback appropriately
