Security IT Engineer - Leading Software Solution Provider - Cambridge

My client, a leading supplier of global software solutions are looking for a Security IT Engineer to be a fundamental part of their Technical team in Cambridge. The role carries security responsibilities for their internal network and systems, including implementing and monitoring security measures to protect sensitive data and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and utilize security toolsets for the identification of suspicious and malicious activities and inadequate security practices across the Company's internal network and systems which may compromise the integrity and availability of systems.
  • Maintain and administer perimeter security systems Maintain and administer internal security solutions. Provide direction and support in addressing security related issues and projects.
  • Carry out quarterly vulnerability scans and resolve highlighted risks Take ownership of the incident management process.
  • Assist with network security assessments for hosted environments as required To keep abreast of emerging technologies, and security threats, and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • To log and deal with users’ support tickets incoming calls/emails and resolve issues promptly, and within defined SLA’s To be part of the team providing Extended IT support cover for the company


  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years directly related work experience in network, security administration\engineering.
  • Prior hands-on experience must include Firewall configuration, Networking & Windows 2008, 2012. Cisco ASA and Sophos UTM would be a plus.
  • Firewalls, Networking, Remote desktop services, Windows 2008/2012 active directory, PC Configuration, Hyper-V. IDS/IPS system knowledge, Authentication mechanisms, Nessus.
  • VMWare, SQL Server, IIS/Apache/Tomcat, Alien Vault, understanding of ISO 27001, Multi Factor Authentication, DLP Knowledge of AWS/Azure and Cloud environments
  • BTEC (or equivalent) or above qualification in IT Ideally a relevant Security qualification, e.g. Security+, CEH etc.
