Reed Finance are currently working with a wonderful charitable organisation based near Guildford.

They are currently looking to recruit a permanent finance manager (No.1 in Finance) managing a small team.

To deliver high quality and efficient financial accounting and management services
To deliver and develop a sustainable financial and management system
Responsible for the overall performance management of the finance admin team

Job Content, Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for the delivery of timely and accurate management accounts for the charity, including income and expenditure statements, balance sheets and cash flows reporting for each unit including social enterprises together with all disclosure notes and reconciliations, ensuring adherence to current statutory requirements
• To lead the improvement and ensure appropriate controls, processes and procedures are in place to meet statutory requirements, compliance with financial policies and procedures.
• Monitor, deliver on a timely and accurate manner, analyse monthly business operating results against budget. Understand and clearly explain all variances in management accounts and manage and communicate any performance issues.
• Drive the improvement of internal reporting capability, in order to show key financial and non-financial data on request, and be responsible for the delivery of timely and accurate monthly financial KPI’s
• To work with the external payroll service provider, monitor performance and provide assurance of timely and accuracy of payroll records and reports
• To be responsible for the monitoring of applicable accounts to prepare for registration for VAT and complete and submit returns to HMRC if they become necessary
• To assist the external auditors by ensuring all records are delivered accurately and in a timely manner, and improvements and agreed actions are delivered.
• To provide information for regulatory and statutory returns.
• Ensuring timely payment of suppliers and invoicing for the provision of services
• Proactively support all units, departments and social enterprises to ensure that the financial processes are understandable and adhered to and all costs are closely monitored and controlled.
• To establish, manage and maintain effective finance processes and routines, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines
• To monitor and forecast CAPEX, manage the asset register and reconciliation of accounts looking for improvements to processes wherever possible
• Lead the periodic review of internal processes and controls, ensuring that risk is managed and minimalised and the risk register is up to date and relevant.
Account management
• To monitor the cash flow position and report on forecasts
• To work and liaise with Fundraising Colleagues to maintain an understanding of statutory bodies and lending organisations requirements for grants and legacies.
• Produce the processes need to deliver annual budgets, budget profiles and forecast projections, and ensure that approved budgets are correctly entered and managed on the financial system.
• To take responsibility for the annual pricing review and produce pricing forecasts
• Manage closely, coach and mentor members of the finance department team to ensure all processes and controls are managed effectively

To be considered for this role you will either be a qualified accountant or a senior qbe accountant with relevant experience.

There is a strong preference for candidates who have worked in a not for profit/charity/housing or local authority setting and with knowledge of SORP.
