Client:

Mechanical building services contracting company (heating and ventilating) based in Waltham Chase, Southampton have a vacancy for a Mechanical Project Manager. The role requires the applicant to be able to work with the minimum of supervision, reporting directly to the Contracts Director. We have approximately 15 office based staff, 30 site operatives and numerous site sub contractors.

Role details:

This is a permanent full time role, working 08:00 until 17:30

Salary and package dependant on ability ranging from £30 to £50k plus.

General Management Tasks

  • Report directly to the Contracts Director

  • Attend Estimate handover meeting from Commercial to Contracts

  • Attend pre-order meeting with Client

  • Prepare Health and Safety requirements from Method Statements and Risk Assessments, and CDM File if we are the Main Contractor

  • Produce and maintain project programme

  • Produce procurement schedule

  • Coordinate services with other trades

  • Liaise with CAD Technician and design engineers

  • Prepare and submit Technical Submittals

  • Review technical aspects of system proposals

  • Procure general materials

  • Procure plant items i.e. boilers air handling units etc

  • Procure sub contract packages i.e. Ductwork , Controls , Insulation etc

  • Check and sign off invoices and sub contractor applications

  • Manage site operatives

  • Carry out site visits and inspections both general and health and safety

  • Attend site meetings

  • Snag and quality control installation

  • Organise and manage all commissioning activities

  • Prepare and submit monthly applications

  • Prepare and submit all variations

  • Prepare and agree final account

  • Prepare and submit Operating and Maintenance Manuals

Skills and Attributes

  • Computer literate with daily operation of Microsoft Office, Excel and Project

  • General typing skills and knowledge of grammar

  • Flexible approach with the ability to manage ever fluctuating workloads

  • Excellent organisation, telephone manner and communication skills

  • Punctual, organised, methodical, well presented, consciences and courteous

  • Open minded, able to adapt to change
