As a Infotainment Project Engineer - Optical Systems workign for a leading sports car manufacturer based Woking you will be responsible for development, test and delivery of state-of-the-art electronic information and entertainment features to current and future road cars. This role requires a detailed working knowledge of all automotive camera and display systems, with a particular focus on Heads up displays, OLED displays, and High Definition Cameras. You will be responsible for both the definition and specification of the optical systems, as well as overseeing the development with a tier 1 partner.

The overall Infotainment team is responsible for the specification, test and delivery of all infotainment systems, which will include; developing system requirements, test case and procedure creation, manual test execution, automated testing, as well as supporting the Principal Engineer in supplier management, provision of work to the test team, proof of concept development and business reviews.

The position requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail, diligence and a positive attitude. The fast paced development and bespoke target platform provide a challenging environment suited to an Engineer who has the ability to quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other Engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist with management of multiple hardware and software suppliers to deliver new infotainment features on time, on cost, and within quality and functional specifications
  • Assist with work provision for a small test engineering team
  • Take responsibility for resolving issues on current production vehicles
  • Report on current activities, software status and issues at a business level
  • Test road cars with the latest features and content before release
  • Develop and co-ordinate DVP plans for all areas associated with the infotainment software
  • Manage and develop test rigs to facilitate the required testing of all new and existing features within the infotainment software domain

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle (V Model); writing system requirements, defining test cases and writing test procedures
  • Be well versed in the creation and maintenance of DFMEA's
  • Have a detailed understanding of optical attributes, and the ability to use measurement equipment to obtain these attributes
  • Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard
  • Organised, systematic and understand the process of fault finding
  • Ability to effectively manage time between multiple projects
