Senior Maintenance Manager / Waste Handling / Recycling / East London / up to £50k + car or car allowance

Our client is a leading international waste to product business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager with a demonstrable and proven background gained in process plant operations and experience of commissioning and proactively maintaining operational readiness within a Waste handling / processing facility

Key Accountabilities
The role holder will lead the preventive and reactive maintenance functions over two major facilities in East London, holding the maintenance budget of more than £5.5 million annually. You will lead a team of maintenance engineers instilling a culture of best practice in the examination of and fault finding on the equipment and servicing activities on all site equipment ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance at all times and maximising plant availability. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing robust data management systems to support reliable decision making in relation spend and maintenance schedules.

*Provide high operational availability and an efficient breakdown repair service by your team. Management of maintenance technicians ensuring effective repairs and improvements are conducted within minimum timescales.
*Ensure productivity and availability exceeds minimum defined standards, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations.
*Manage the programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime, provide Root Cause Analysis of recurrent or significant faults and develop engineered solutions to these issues.
*Prepare and manage a budget and forecasting for your area of responsibility.
*Drive financial savings through efficiency initiatives.
*Report on your area of responsibility using KPI's and other relevant metrics.
*Liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work.
*Keep abreast of changes to health & safety and environmental legislation and Company policies to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented and ensure all technicians are aware of any changes that may affect them.
*Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes and procedures and all staff in his/her remit are fully trained and competent to carry out their jobs.
*Review maintenance activities, implementing necessary corrective actions as required.
*Complete and close out actions identified through internal and external audits.
*Identify under-performing assets for evaluation, identify potential business improvement projects and assist in the preparation of business case papers.
*Manage your staff portfolio with assistance from Human Resources.
*Identify relevant skills and training requirements for staff, prepare local operating procedures as part of staff training and development.
*Report all safety or environmental issues to Management, and where appropriate, to internal support services staff. Prepare corrective action plans if required, complete identified actions.

Experience, Education & Qualifications
*Degree/NVQ3 in an Engineering discipline
*Experience of managing and maintaining a large processing facility
*Experience of managing expenditure and control of cost
*Experience of managing employee relations and training
*In depth understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
*Good people skills; be able to communicate at all levels throughout the company and externally
*Good numerate and written skills
*Good organisation skills and the ability to forward plan and have a proactive management approach
*Ability to relay, coach / train technical information, monitor performance

Ideal
*Experience of pressure systems legislation, setting up controlling and complying with.
*Experience of managing personnel and operations within a process plant operation
*Experience of commissioning and pro-actively maintaining operational readiness within a Waste handling/processing facility
