A global business are recruiting a strategic procurement professional, to work as a Category Manager. Applicants need experience working with supply chains across; cyber security software/hardware, speciality chemicals, ingredients, plastics, inks & dyes.

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for leading procurement activity across their assigned category. This Category could be any of the following; plastics, plastic mouldings, speciality chemicals, inks, dyes, packaging, pharmaceutical or food ingredients, cyber security software and hardware. The Procurement Specialist will need to work strategically and collaboratively with vendors, while taking into account needs of the internal stakeholder community. The Procurement Specialist will be exposed to the full commercial lifecycle engaging with suppliers from selection/assessment, through to contract management. Category spend will be in the region of £50M.

Specific duties of the Procurement Specialist:

1. Review current category strategy - recommend and implement change
2. Bench marking, market intelligence and supplier selection activities
3. Negotiate, develop strong relations and manage critical vendors
4. Development, implementation and communication of Category Management strategy
5. Management of procurement projects
6. Develop contracts / commercial agreements that guard against risk
7. Foster excellent relationships with commercial / technical stakeholders and colleagues
8. Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement and support process improvement within Procurement

Procurement Specialist applicants should meet the following criteria:

1. Strategic procurement, Category Management and Supplier Relationship Management expertise / understanding
2. Experience sourcing across; speciality chemicals, cyber security software/hardware, plastics or ingredients
3. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
4. The ability to develop and implement sourcing strategies
5. Experience working with complex / specialist vendors
