My client is a distributor of electronic components to businesses within the Aerospace, Defence, Automotive and Medical sectors. They have been established for over 25 years, and have grown from strength to strength over that time in both annual turnover (currently £60 million), and in staff headcount at their HQ in Stevenage, and at their other offices across the world.

As part of this exciting growth, a new position has been created to work alongside one of the senior managers of the company, dealing with the trading of excess stock.

Stock is purchased from a network of global suppliers based on purchase orders from their customers, however, there is sometimes a difference between the amount the customer wants to buy and the minimum quantity that can be ordered from the supplier so it leaves excess stock. This excess stock is then sold via different portals such as online trading websites.


  • Uploading stock to online trading sites

  • Investigating parts to see if being sold elsewhere and for how much money

  • Negotiating the best price on stock

  • Liaising with traders and brokers who want to purchase your products

  • Responsible for Franchise ecommerce sales.

    The Ideal Person:

  • Advanced Excel as will need to keep spreadsheets

  • Previous inventory control

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Experience of trading online would be beneficial

  • Not a pushover!

  • A good level of intelligence - need to be able to think for yourself

  • Inquisitive nature - this role involves lots of investigative work

    This will be a really interesting and varied role that someone can make their own, plus there are lots of career development opportunities within the business. Full training will be given.
