3 Month Fixed Term Contract
£35,000 per annum/pro rata

This company is a name that is renowned amongst retailers and caterers throughout the North, as the region's foremost independent Cash and Carry and proud owner of one of the country's fastest growing symbol groups. They currently have an opening for a highly experienced Health & Safety professional to join them on a temporary basis.

They are looking for an individual with previous experience of being the Health & Safety expert within a warehousing environment. Previous experience of either transportation and/or food would be advantageous but not essential.

You will be using your experience, expertise and knowledge to provide a full review of all of their business to identify areas of weakness and non-compliance. You will then undertake a project to benchmark and update their currently Health & Safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and operating practices.

These is an extremely hands-on project in which we will be expecting you to:
- Travel around our 6 depots and 4 retail shops to identify issues and areas of improvement and current none compliance
- Further develop our current policies, procedures and operation standards
- Undertake a full review of all current risk assessments, including fire and update where appropriate
- Develop new risk assessments where appropriate
- Further develop our accident investigation process, making changes where necessary and training all key personnel
- Develop a series of toolbox training session across all areas of Health & Safety that can then be rolled out by key personnel across the Company
- Develop initiatives to increase Health & Safety awareness within their Company
- Work in partnership with key staff at each depot to ensure going forward they have the skills and knowledge to keep the key Health & Safety systems up to date and the confidence to develop new systems in the future

You must also:
- Hold a formal Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent as a minimum)
- Be able to drive and hold a driving licence - a car will be provided to you
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management in regards to setting and achieving deadlines

This is a temporary position which they expect to last no-longer than 3 months, you will be based out of their Head Office in Stockport but will spend time during the 3 months within their other Company locations.
