JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Operations Team Leader that has excellent management and leadership skills with a ‘hands on’ approach to managing the team.

Working as the Operations Team Leader you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day service delivery, ensuring your team of Ambulance Drivers, Paramedics and other Healthcare professionals are meeting agreed SLA’s, which will involve reporting daily activity to the Management Team.

As the Operations Team Leader you will have direct line management responsibility for the operational staff, which includes Ambulance Drivers, Paramedics and other Healthcare professionals, ensuring that everything is in place, so that they are able to start work and be deployed in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.

The Operations Team Leader is also responsible for ensuring accurate communication at all times between all stakeholders and operational staff working at the site.

At all times you must ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues and others by assessing risks and adopting safe working practices.

DUTIES

  • Responsible for the provision of leadership and management to the immediate operational staff (ambulance drivers, paramedics and other healthcare professionals)
  • Develop a good working knowledge of the business processes to ensure these are being complied by and followed by all staff
  • Provide effective leadership in ensuring that standards and practices comply with policies and procedures
  • Ensure that the team understand their roles and are working within the clinical governance strategy and promote excellence in clinical practice in accordance with Care Quality Commission guidelines
  • Ensure all ambulance crews are booked on within the shift start time requirements, minimising on any unnecessary down times throughout the shift
  • Assist with office duties i.e. processing of speeding fines, run-sheet collation and entry, customer report compilation
  • Uphold business principles of customer and patient care, and staff welfare by promoting and maintaining good working relationships and practices in all dealings with staff and outside agencies
  • Ensure that all staff participate in the appraisal system
  • Ensure audits become part of everyday practice, are conducted and reported when required
  • Supplies are monitored and ordered for operational hubs including supervision of the make ready team
  • Incidents and complaints are investigated and managed to include participating in Investigation and disciplinary meetings
  • Support the Operations Manager with any follow up requirements and investigations
  • Participate fully in the on-call rota at bronze level
  • Analyse data from the NHS trusts and customers, feeding back any issues/areas of concerns
  • Support with resourcing and monitoring absence and holiday

  • IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Level 2 NVQ or equivalent
  • Full driving licence (C1 is preferential)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and of acquiring new skills/knowledge in the past 2 years
  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent
  • Can demonstrate knowledge ability and understanding or leading teams in an operational setting
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills gained from experience of dealing with customers or members of the public
  • Skills in diplomacy and negotiation
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Tact and the ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Flexible approach to working arrangements
  • Has personal integrity
  • Demonstrates commitment to the values, principles of health and social care
  • Able to satisfactorily meet the requirement of pre-employment checks
