An exciting opportunity has become available for a Buyer to join a PLC manufacturing organisation. The Buyer reports to the Quality Assurance & Purchasing Manager and is responsible for purchasing and stock control. The Buyer has the responsibility to ensure smooth running of the supply chain for their suppliers. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a start or step up in their career.
Role responsibilities of the Buyer:·To ensure adequate communication of Supply related issues to users, customers, suppliers, principals etc. ·Obtain purchase prices from suppliers and maintain price files ·Processing purchase orders and liaise with supplier on collection dates and availability ·To update customer service on delays and take required actions to allow conformance to delivery requirements. ·To ensure that suppliers invoices are accurate, and refer discrepancies for remedial action. ·To ensure the performance of the supplier is being monitored and action taken where services fail to meet the requirements ·To ensure that damages and losses are dealt with via suppliers or through claims ·Supplier returns ·Maintain stock levels to ensure sufficient supply without putting the company at risk of excess stock ·Monitoring old and expiring stock ·Price negotiation Person Specification of the Buyer:·To be pro-active in dealing with problems. ·To have good communications and organisational skills. ·To have a caring attitude in dealing with customer requirements. ·Self-management. ·Working knowledge of the main IT packages used by company ·Negotiation skills ·CIPS diploma preferable but not essential ·Minimum 1 year experience in procurement or purchasing.Salary of the Buyer:·£22,000 - £25,000·Normal hours of work are from 9:00 am until 5:00pm, with 1 hour for lunch between 12.00pm to 2.30pmThis role will be well suited to you if you have held a role as a; buyer, junior buyer, technical buyer, engineering buyer, procurement engineer, sourcing specialist.
