An established Christian Charity that offer a range of Community Services but also have International reach are currently looking for an experienced Financial Accountant.

With a 100 year + track record in their specialty, several smaller charities have joined them making them a true winner in their field. 

Based on the Greenwich Peninsula, their offices are easily accessible and the Finance team is large enough to offer strong career development

Main Duties

1. Manage the accounting processes to ensure that monthly management accounts and financial reports are produced in the agreed format, to a high level of accuracy and to agreed deadlines.

2. Produce a balance sheet and cash flow report for inclusion in the monthly management accounts including commentary on significant movements.

3. Under the supervision of the Financial Controller co-ordinate the review of and commentary on the monthly management accounts by the Finance Business Partners, the Financial Controller and the Director of Resources.

4. Be accountable for and manage the production of monthly balance sheet reconciliations including the review of reconciliations provided by other members of the financial and transactions processing team.

5. Produce for review and approval the quarterly VAT returns for all entities within the group of companies.

6. Issue VAT zero-rating certificates, where necessary consulting with the Group Financial Controller on the applicability of zero-rating.

7. Review and oversee the operation of the fixed asset module within the accounting system including the reconciliation of the fixed asset register to the nominal ledger.

8. Carry out accounting procedures each month to defer and accrue fundraised income as necessary.

9. Monitor the process for resolving outstanding Fundraising transaction processing issues and errors.

10. To manage the computerised accounting system to ensure it is configured to support group operations and users.

11. Oversee the production and posting of accruals and prepayments each month end.

12. Manage the process of accounting for energy charges and accruals for the charges to ensure complete and accurate to a high standard at month end.

13. Lead the production of statutory accounts and the preparation for and execution of the annual audit of the Group and its subsidiaries.

14. Lead in the preparation and filing of Corporation Tax returns.

15. Conduct the accounting for and review of restricted fund income and expenditure and balances each month so as to be able to report movements and balances to all stakeholders, including a formal quarterly review by senior management.

16. Maintain a register of sundry debtors and creditors and produce a reconciliation of these each month end.

17. Control and produce a monthly reconciliation of the inter company balances between the legal entities that make up the group.

18. Oversee Gift Aid claims to ensure completed and submitted within deadlines to and to maximise the recovery of Gift Aid.

19. Complete reporting submissions for the Office for National Statistics to deadline.

20. Be responsible for and able to evidence own personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences and events ensuring that you are updated in all matters relevant to the role within your Personal Development Plan agreed with your manager.

21. To carry out additional duties and tasks that may be required within the range of the responsibilities of the post.

ACCA / CIMA Qualified Accountant with experience in a similar role within a Public Sector / Not for Profit entity

Charity SORP would be preferred but not essential
