Gas Safety Manager required for a permanent position based in Hampshire covering their South East Contract. You will be required implement, administer, monitor and audit the application of the safe system of work as defined by the Gas Safety Case. You will be required to travel across their contact in the South East.

Technical Responsibilities
- Implement, administer, monitor and audit the application of the safe system of work as defined by the Gas Safety Case for the nominated disciplines.
- To define the exact extent of the systems and installations for which Responsible Persons (RP) are responsible
- To advise the Operations Director on those systems and installations to which the MOD Gas Safety Case apply on the RPC Central Contract
- To liaise with Coordinating Authorising Engineer who will act as focal point in dealings with DIO
- Initiate training to ensure sufficient RPs for the systems and installations.
- To support the RPs and SADM in meeting the requirements of the Gas Safety Case
- Assess the competence of RPs for initial and continuing appointment
- To appoint RPs in accordance with the Gas Safety Case
- To audit and review each RPs operational experience at six-monthly intervals before re-appointment and at other times as necessary. Issue audits summary reports and action plans.
- To, where necessary, suspend the appointment of RPs
- To ensure RPs are aware of any amendments to the Gas Safety Case and any safety notices related to their work
- To notify Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) of any defects or operational restrictions issued by others.
- To agree with DIO any departures from JSP375
- To carry out risk assessments
- To carry out the requirements of JSP in relation to the introduction of new works
- Act as a Commissioning Manager for substantial Core Services or Core Works projects, preparing commissioning plans, monitoring programmes, co-ordinating commissioning activity and witnessing the commissioning of new equipment, where necessary.
- To provide a positive environment in which RPs and other team members follow the requirements of the Gas Safety Case
- To advise the Management Board in righting of any deficiencies in the Safe Systems of Work, which could prevent the Estate from being maintained in a safe condition
- To carry out an annual review of the Safe Systems of Work and RP's under their control and summarise the findings in a report to the Coordinating Authorising Engineer, who will confirm to the
- To audit the implementation of Gas Safety in the nominated disciplines
- To ensure there are sufficient RPs and supply chain engineers to provide proper cover for the site operations
- To interview and assess RP's before appointment. Ensure site familiarity in accordance with the requirements of Gas Safety Case
- To maintain a register of all RPs with their training records and areas of responsibility
- To investigate dangerous occurrences and accidents which occur while a permit to work is in force; report findings to the SHEF Manager and the DIO Senior Authorising Authority
- To provide authorities for particular tasks such as electrical live working
- To comply with all Health and Safety and Sustainability Policies and Procedures pertaining to your job role.


- Significant relevant professional experience in the engineering discipline
- Demonstrable experience of managing and supervising engineering staff in the appropriate discipline
- Qualified to degree equivalent level as required by relevant Gas Safety Case
- Solving problems and taking decisions
- Managing Resources and Work to Achieve Results

Essential Requirements

- Professional qualifications as required by JSP
- Emergency first aid Fire Safety
- Familiarity with the sites and equipment for which responsible
- Familiarity with and experienced in working to the Gas Safety Case safe system of work appropriate to the discipline
- Training in accordance with the requirements of Gas Safety Case
- Professional and technical training as a part of continuing professional development to maintain professional status and technical competence
- Requirement for extensive travel between sites
