The Operations Manager is a critical post for us and its in-house contracting team.

Reporting to the Assistant Director- Property, the Operations Manager has direct responsibility for ensuring that the service delivery, income and expenditure, and safety of its 26 Operatives meet our demanding expectations. THS is introducing a number of changes to make sure that it provides good value as well as excellent services to our residents. This will be a key person who will introduce those changes and ensure that they are effective.

The workforce carries out around £2.8m worth of work each year on our 4,100 homes mostly in and around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire areas. The responsive repairs service is carried out by our in-house team consisting of multi-skilled, gas and electrical operatives, with specialist works being sub-contracted. Annually we maintain 4,100 properties including gas servicing and breakdowns, turnaround approximately 180 empty properties.

Backed by Supervisors and support colleagues, the Operations Manager will bring strong leadership and commercial skills to secure the future of our organisation and drive it forward. The ideal Operations Manager will be someone who has experience of managing workforces in similar operating environments; has good technical knowledge, strong commercial skills, and can be both a practical hands-on manager and contribute to developing and implementing plans and improvements.

Essential Requirements:
  • The role holder will have proven experience in a similar role, with a track record of delivering an operational function with a Housing Association or contractor.
  • Proven experience of managing a team to successful outcomes is a must.
  • You will have proven experience of managing an operational maintenance service including budget responsibility.
Desirable Requirements:

If you have an HND or HNC in a Building specialism, with a supervisory or building industry management qualification or equivalent, we would love to hear from you. You will need a full driving license.
