Assistant Insurance Account Executive and Broking Assistant

Banking & Travel Risk Management Divisions

City of London, London

Salary: £20,000 to £25,000 per annum.

A well established Lloyd's of London Broking House are looking to recruit a joint role of Account Executive and Broking Assistant to support the placement, customer management and underwriting of Travel and Financial Institution related business within this Lloyd’s Broker. Business emanates from UK and International commercial markets, placements undertaken with Lloyd’s of London and European insurance companies.

Requirements:

This position would ideally suit a University Graduate or someone with work experience within a Lloyd’s of London Broking House.

Education:

  • Graduate, A-Level standard / Minimum 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths
  • Language skills desirable but not essential.
  • IT Skills: MS Office 2000, Outlook, Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Assist in the placement of business with designated underwriting markets.
  • Assist in assigned customer management tasks.
  • Produce and manage data to accurately show past performance and the future projection of business under contract.
  • Respond to customer queries regarding cover limits, policy extensions etc.
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customer relationships through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal stakeholders. •Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information.
  • Carry out market research, competitor and customer analysis.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with contracted external functions (claims management businesses, web and media designers et al) necessary to perform duties and aid business conversion to drive business revenue.
  • Attend training and undertake continuous development to build relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Assisting brokers with amendments/endorsements and other related activities.

Career Development:

The position requires the placement of business within a Regulated market. As such, the job holder will be required to undertake and attain professional qualifications via the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Person profile - Account Executive and Broking Assistant Personality:

Well presented, self-driven with a positive mature outlook. Task ordinated, reliable and tolerant; a good communicator able to work within a motivated and focussed team. Able to embrace responsibility and accountability. Specific Job Skills: High levels of discretion and confidentiality. The ability to present risk details in a clear and focussed manner to underwriting markets; risk profile, loss history, rating requirements and commercial terms. In turn, present attained placement terms to colleagues and customers alike.

Computer skills:

Must be adept in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Especially the creation and regular production of Excel spreadsheets to monitor the performance of premium income and loss payments (ratios), performance projections on behalf of underwriters. Also, the ability to understand and be pro-active in the delivery of such data.

Literacy and Numeracy:

High levels of numeracy, able to interpret data, understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc.

Business Management Skills:

Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to assist in placing and managing business (policy endorsements and renewals) supporting major accounts, customers and large contracts. Concise and focussed use of email, clarity of message to ensure client understanding of contracted risk parameters.

Product Build, Distribution & Marketing Skills:

Ability to support the production of policy and sales documentation; electronic and traditional media. Production of sales and training materials in support of our client retail distribution needs. Accuracy in proof reading and print production is essential. Ability to interact with web and media designers on behalf of this Lloyd's of London Broking House and the marketing teams of clients, including advertising and advertorial placement.
