Salary: £40,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

We are currently recruiting an experienced Accountant to manage all aspects of a newly formed accounting practice, including the setup.

You will be working with senior partners in the early stages to establish organisational structure, operational process and systems, client solutions and business strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity to be an integral part in the practice set up where you will be expected to significantly influence the business in the future.

Duties:

  • Deliver business goals and profit targets
  • Ensure that client work is requested, completed & delivered on time
  • Set up and manage arrangements with third party business partners
  • Manage & build client relationships
  • Provide business and tax planning advice
  • Ensure that client deadlines & service delivery standards are met at all times
  • Assist with growth strategy, through new business generation & client retention
  • Liaise with HMRC in relation to client tax affairs
  • Manage junior accountants / bookkeepers, with target setting, performance management & appraisals
  • Improve knowledge through training & development (including professional qualifications / memberships)
  • Design relevant KPI reports to measure performance and key business goals
  • Maintain and analyse sales, purchase and nominal ledgers for the business
  • Prepare and submit monthly management accounts - HMRC returns (VAT & PAYE)
  • Prepare partnership trial balance, financial statements & tax return, for submission to HMRC annually

Skills/experience required:

  • Previous management experience
  • Good time management skills
  • Able to motivate and manage
  • Xero would be preferable, SAGE, Free agent, tax calculations
  • Excellent Presentation / reporting skills (this is required when reporting to the board)
  • Previous experience of working in an accounting practice, including providing advice to clients
  • Must be qualified (ACA or ACCA)
  • Knowledge of small business accounts; both corporate and personal tax
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic with a desire to progress to partner level
  • A strong work ethic and flexible as there will sometimes be a requirement to work extra hours
