Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 plus a very good package which includes a car or car allowance, health insurance, pension and 25 holiday

My Client, one of the markets leading Social Housing Maintenance Main Contractor's is on the lookout for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team. They also have extensive experience operating in other sectors including Retail, Education, Public sector and Heritage. With a turnover over of £300m per year, they have 10 offices throughout the UK, employing over 1000 staff. With a large workforce, they understand how important it is to meet their employee's training and development requirements which is why they were awarded a Silver in Investor's in People.

About the Role

The company have an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor opportunity based in South London/Surrey. It will be working on a long term multi-million framework covering responsive repairs and voids to 14,000 properties within the Borough. You will be utilising NHF schedule of rates version 6.1.

Job role/criteria:

  • Accurately report the financial and contractual situation of the sub-contractors and suppliers responsible for:
  • Utilising NHF schedule of rates version 6.1
  • Responsible for pricing completed jobs and applying for payment from the client
  • Uploading sub-contractor payments, approving material costs, dealing with rejections from the client and running the claim for payment at month end
  • Check that sub-contractors are procured to the programme and that agreements are robust in order to achieve best value
  • Take timely and proper action (e.g., notices) in accordance with the contract/sub-contract
  • Assist with preparation of contractual claims
  • Work closely with other QS members and other site staff
  • Give support and advice to site team on commercial matters where possible
  • Be aware of the QA procedures and Group Standing Orders at all times
  • Be knowledgeable about the provisions of the Construction Act and other Contract types relating to suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Helping out with the procurement
  • Contribute to the set up and review of the project risk register
  • Support the team in giving the Client/Client's Representatives timely and accurate information
  • Plan activities to endear customers to want to work with us again
  • To demonstrate an appropriate level of awareness and assist as part of the site team to ensure that we comply with SHE


  • Two years minimum experience working for Main Contractors
  • Experience working on responsive maintenance frameworks
  • Experience utilising NHF schedule of rates
