My client a leading transport company based in London are hiring a Regional Financial Accountant to join the team. This position will be managing the IFRS implementation through the UK/ Europe region. The role will work closely with the regional technical reporting function and will report into the Group Financial Controller.

The role:

  • Technically support the regions reporting in US GAAP and IFRS format through communication with relevant parties;
  • Management of the quarterly audit reviews and statutory audits;
  • Liaise with internal control manager on the delivery of the annual external Sox audit;
  • Prepare audit committee presentations;
  • Support the Financial Accountant in the development and maintenance of a group accounting manual with associated controls;
  • Provide support to the stakeholders of the UK final salary pension scheme;
  • Input into the monthly US GAAP reconciliation to IFRS reconciliation;
  • Involvement in ad-hoc financial and commercial projects;
  • Assessment of the financial impact of potential IFRS and US GAAP changes on the regions accounts;
  • Ensure that the accounting implications of key contracts are understood;
  • Working with the Regional finance team in providing insightful monthly and quarterly reporting;
  • Support group reorganisation, acquisition activity and other ad hoc projects;

The chosen candidate will be a qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA or CIMA with a minimum of 3 year's post qualification experience however a candidate from a BIG 4 background is advantageous as you will need to possess strong technical accounting knowledge.
Other Requirements:

  • Have knowledge of the working of a UK final salary pension scheme and the accounting thereof;
  • Ability to build healthy working relationships with business stakeholders while exhibiting independence and objectivity in thought and action;
  • Ability to multi task and work well under pressure, prioritising tasks and workload and managing conflicting demands of the business units and senior management team;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff across the UK/Europe region, as well as key stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan own work, work autonomously and on own initiative and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy of work;
  • IT literate with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
