Medirest is the specialist healthcare operating company of Compass Group UK & Ireland, providing a full range of hotel services, including staff, patient and visitor catering, domestics, portering, security and reception, at over 130 NHS Trusts and private hospitals.

We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Porter Manager to work at the Peterborough City hospital on a permanent basis. In this role you will be responsible for 3 Supervisors and a team of 65 porters and will report direct to the Service Manager

Main responsibilities
  • To assist the Logistics manager in the management of the Porter, Linen, Service Desk and Security services
  • Understand and deliver contractual terms
  • Discuss with line manager and implement any opportunities for increasing turnover / contractual obligations
  • Promote the service and act as a Compass Advocate at all times
  • Complete labour schedule within the labour budget
  • To work as required, on a rotational basis, including early and late shifts, weekends and bank holidays
  • To implement and undertake a program to routinely monitor the standard of services provided by the Logistics Services Staff
  • Represent the Logistics contract at Trust or Compass working groups and within the Health Care business
  • Carry out regular audits to ensure services are being maintained to agreed standards and performance and produce quarterly, annual or monthly reports
  • Manage the annual leave and absence processes and implement action plans to reduce absence levels
  • To work constantly towards contract retention and to provide cost improvement / service improvement plans where possible or required
  • Perform any reasonable and practical instructions as requested by the Portering Manager appropriate to the needs of the Hospital
Ideal candidate
  • Must have previous supervisor experience, able to motivate and achieve results with your team
  • Must be a good verbal & written communicator
  • Track record of achieving results
  • Conducting Audits and creating action plans to improve scores
  • IT competent
  • Enthusiastic, assertive, use initiative, open-minded, able to judge and prioritise, results orientated
  • Well organised and focused
