My client - the UK’s only fully integrated provider of home phone, mobile, broadband, gas and electricity services are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager to join their Energy team.

This role will involve being part of a team managing some of the key strategic third party relationships that the business utilises in order to deliver its obligations of being a successful retail energy supplier.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the functions carried out by the relevant third party suppliers, including the relevant regulatory framework, supplier licence conditions and key industry codes. They will need to be adept at translating the businesses requirements into a robust strategy and operational policy to bring about a positive experience for customers being contacted during the delivery of services by the third party suppliers.

What you will actually do:

  • Become a centre of excellence on the topic, providing knowledge and support to other areas of the business as required
  • Ownership of contract life cycle and service delivery including creation and management of SLA’s, KPI’s, financial health checks and contract amendments
  • Demonstrate sound commercial acumen to support the negotiation of contract terms, pricing and service improvements
  • Ability to use analytical expertise to provide recommendations, forecasts and reports to the business based on data and fact
  • Identify changing business requirements and service standards and work with suppliers and stakeholders to implement necessary contract/process changes in a timely way
  • Adopt and support a risk management approach to log, manage and escalate supplier/contract risks in a timely, open and constructive way
  • Provide expertise in the relevant service provider areas about regulation and technology, ensuring that the businesses obligations are understood and embedded within the business and the third party supplier
  • Chair regular (monthly/quarterly) review meetings and conduct performance assessments to manage and challenge performance
  • Identify innovations and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Research potential new suppliers for management consideration to include in future tenders
  • Continually review existing supply deals and benchmark prices to ensure best value is constantly obtained
  • Be involved in the activity of migrating from existing service providers to new third party suppliers where appropriate
  • Communicate both up and down the management ladder, keeping stakeholders informed of relevant changes to key aspects of the relationships and performance against targets

What you will need:

  • 2 + years’ experience in a B2B contracts/relationship management role
  • The ability to work with key stakeholders to challenge existing processes and develop pragmatic solutions to complex problems
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • The ability to be assertive/challenge third party suppliers who are not delivering against KPI’s and SLA’s
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • The ability to deliver against performance targets via a third party in a timely fashion together with a professional organised approach
  • Excellent communicator both verbally and written
  • Ability to use initiative and to provide solutions
  • Committed to working as part of a team
  • Ability to analyse data/MI provided by third party suppliers
