Primary Purpose of the Role:

My clientS business area G2 is the leading commercial provider of Mobile Satellite Services to Governments around the world. You are responsible for creating innovative solutions based on the core network you are responsible for (e.g. GX, L band and Leasing) as well as managing interaction with the technical teams supporting and operating the relevant core network e.g. COO and CTO groups. This role is designed to ensure G2 provides offers based on the innovative use of my clients core networks whilst also ensuring G2 is abreast of what the network operations and design teams are planning for the future of these core networks.

Reporting to the Director, Solutions Engineering - Networks within G2 the successful candidate will provide the most innovative and commercially attractive solutions for G2’s customer base in support of the sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary

  • Demonstrate a high level of technical skill & knowledge in the core network you are responsible for and in a way that is most, relevant to G2 (e.g. govt satellite systems) as well as an ability to share this knowledge with the Solutions Engineering - Networks team, in a way that grows the team members knowledge.
  • In conjunction with the Director, Solutions Engineering - Networks develop and execute a compelling knowledge sharing strategy that focuses on sharing your high end Inmarsat network knowledge with the PSE team allowing them to provide the first line of technical sales interface with G2’s customers.
  • Provide support for G2 bids, offers and marketing activities by ensuring any product or service designed to leverage the high end use of my clients networks includes an innovation component making G2’s offer more operationally attractive.
  • Develop deep relationships with the relevant ‘network owner’ within COO and CTO teams thus ensuring both G2 and the relevant contacts within these functions are equally aware of the others priorities.

    Secondary

    • Create and deliver, reports and other documented metrics as agreed and required by the business
    • Support the sales channel with customer demonstrations and technical solution training as directed by the BU’s operational processes
    • Engage with multiple stakeholders on complex projects negotiating with all parties to define, shape and understand technical requirements and act as a trusted adviser to the user community on technical issues
    • Where appropriate oversee the quality and integration of all aspects of the solutions architecture working to a prescribed budget and delivery plan
    • Operate as a subject matter expert at technical meetings
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of key market domain dynamics (operational needs, constraints and tempo) , competitor activities and solutions used by government clients
    • Essential Knowledge and Skills:
    • Degree level education
    • 5+ years’ work experience of working with complex projects in a senior technical role
    • Good knowledge of IP networks especially with Government domains
    • Accustomed to working in cross-functional teams in an international environment and generating action
    • Strong influencing and persuasion skills in both written and verbal communication
    • Good negotiation skills
    • Good organisational/project/stakeholder/team management skills
    • Good interpersonal and rapport building skills
    • Good decision-making skills
    • Proficient IT skills: ability to use in-house software – predominately Microsoft Office programmes to an advanced level (particularly MS Excel and MS Word)
    • Fluency in written and spoken business English

    Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

    • Be technically fluent on my clients services and network infrastructure including L-band and GX networks
    • Experience of Network design and Network Operations with a global carrier
    • Understanding of mobile satellite, fixed satellite and cellular industry (for example 3G, Cisco and iDirect technologies) or recognised niche systems integration activities
    • Knowledge of the Government market
    • Fluency in additional languages
