Technical Service Support Engineer

(CNC Machine Tool environment)


To £37,000 basic + Pension + Bonus + Healthcare + Laptop + iphone

My client, one of the leading independent machine tool businesses in the UK has exciting opportunities for motivated experienced apprentice trained mechanical and electrical engineer looking for Technical support engineer role.
With ongoing installations countrywide the company is looking for an experienced engineer to manage technical service enquires for installations of large CNC Milling machines in a prestigious client base with Automotive and Aerospace sectors.

Role & Responsibilities
To receive and assist with enquiries and requests for technical Service support, from both external customers and internal operations.
To maintain the Service work schedule and advise job allocations to the relevant Service engineers.
To liaise with our Principals to obtain technical support or parts provision.
To maintain Service contract records and Generate/Update Service Checklists for our engineers to follow.
To proactively source parts from third parties when needed.
To accurately compile technical information to form coherent requests to our German principals.
To maintain proper records & keep relevant files updated, for example specialist tool logs
To task our administrative team and coordinate the delivery and return of parts or specialist tools in support of service engineer's activities.
To seek and arrange training provisions for our service team relevant to Health & Safety and Safe working Practices.
To Generate RAMS before planned work, upon customer requests.

Required Skills & Experience
Service engineer with working knowledge of Siemens and Heidenhain controls.
Factory based Service Technician working on CNC machine tools.
Experience in a technically biased administration or service role, especially in manufacturing or engineering would be a distinct advantage.
Experience and understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
Able to read Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic diagrams for diagnostic purposes.
Familiar with PLC, Profibus, Ethernet terminology and function.
Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
Must be a personable individual, calm under pressure and have a positive customer focus.
A strong communicator prepared to follow things through to a successful conclusion.
A professional approach, disciplined work ethic, eye for detail and a keen team player are the key personality traits.
Lateral thinking and a flexible response to the peaks and troughs of a busy Service and Sales operation will be required, as will patience and diplomacy.
