William is an engaging and lively little boy of 6 who has a great sense of humour and fun. William has no additional needs however his mother Helen has a rare progressive condition which is physically debilitating and affects every aspect of her life, including her ability to physically care for William.
We are seeking an empathetic, kind, energetic, mature and organised Family Support Worker / Nanny to look after William when he is not at school, provide housekeeping duties such as shopping, tidying up, cooking and support Helen with duties such as ordering and collecting medication, liaising with the school on her behalf, assisting with hospital appointments and personal care.
Most days, Helen is bed-bound for 18 - 24 hours, with the pain, fatigue & problems with joints, soft tissue and internal organ function; she has to be very still & pace every single movement and is often unable to interact with William, get out of bed, socialise, use computer, phone or even text. In spite of this, Helen is still very independent and manages to work (mostly from home); she gives whatever energy she has to making sure William is happy and well loved.
You will also need great organisational skills, the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure and have an emotional resilience and maturity. Because of the Helen’s physical needs and therefore reliance on the Family Support Worker / Nanny, it is essential that you are reliable and have excellent time keeping - and appreciate why these are so important.
