About the School - Primary SENCO
Located in the London borough of Newham, close to the Olympic Park this excellent two form entry Primary School has been providing a high level of education to local pupils for the past 110 years. This school has pupils from a range of different ethnic and social backgrounds which makes it a highly diverse environment to teach and learn in. The school has much larger than average intake of SEN pupils mainly based on the excellent reputation it has within the local community for the support and development it offers these pupils. The School has a highly inclusive ethos incorporating SEN students in all mainstream lessons. It has provided excellent training and development for all of its class teachers around good SEN teaching and successful inclusion. The school has also invested heavily in Learning Support Assistants for one to one teaching ensuring these students get the dedicated support they require. Much of this has been put in place by the outgoing SENCO who leaves after four successful years at the school creating this rare opportunity.

About the Role - Primary SENCO
The SENCO post is of key importance to any school but in this school with a larger than average intake of pupils with SEN it is vital. The school are looking for either someone who is currently a SENCO in a similar situation or someone who has plenty of experience supporting SEN students, who feels confident they are ready to make the step up. The school is looking for a SENCO who is able to model and educate their teachers with good SEN teaching practice. Sharing knowledge is key for this post as the school aim to remain one of the best schools for students with Autism, Dyslexia and behavioural needs. There is a possibility that someone stepping up to the role without the national SENCO qualification could be accepted for the post if they are willing to commit to taking on the course.
